Some people, especially those who didn`t previously work with written agreements, work based on the idea that talking about business isn`t cool. It spoils the atmosphere. It shows a lack of confidence. It`s square. Because of this attitude, asking to write things down is often an unpleasant time, especially with someone you`ve worked with before. But even if, at first, people remain resistant to this conversation, writing almost always leads to increased confidence, a sense of professionalism and a more relaxed atmosphere when greeting. Even a one-word response («ok») implies that they read your email, have understood the terms, and thus cement a valid understanding of the contract. At least once, these emails revealed a misunderstanding between a customer and me. Given that hospitality continues to become an essentially independent profession and that more and more artists are choosing to work without the help of record companies, it is all the more important to record our various agreements in writing.
